Electric Lines By Joe Goddard - Best Album of 2017

Joe Goddard's Electric Lines album, released in April 2017, is by far my favourite of the year so far.

For fans of electropop/funk/synth/house of the type seen across Hot Chip's albums, it hits the spot in so many way. Of course, I'm a big fan of Joe through his Hot Chip work primarily, as well as The 2 Bears, but I think the Electric Lines album may be my favourite piece he's produced.

Joe Goddard has actually been in three of my vlogs before. First was with Hot Chip in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and then again as The 2 Bears at Citadel Festival in London.

Whether I've been driving, trying to get to sleep, at the gym or up for raving, Electric Lines has been my default album. I was really excited to see the live show at King Tut's Wah Wah Hut in Glasgow, the famous venue which is apparently threatened with closure.

There are so many good tracks, but my favourite has to be Home for it's 70s soul vibes. Second would be Electric Lines featuring vocals by the incredible Alexis Taylor from Hot Chip. Finally, Human Heart as well. The robotic voice at the end is rad.

Valentina, the singer of the famous Gabriel track, is touring with Joe as she's on most of the album's lyrics. She has a tremendous voice. Check out my video blog below reviewing the live gig in Glasgow, and if you get a chance to see him on one of his many tour dates this year, go. You won't regret it.

I think my wife Teka put it better than I did. She said: "Having watched the concert I now love the album."
